Syracuse University Wayfinding App
Timeline: 4 weeks
Team Size: 4
Project Overview
A high-fidelity mobile app prototype of a connected campus experience that included multiple use cases. It was representative of the “art of the possible” on how to a custom native app could fulfill their needs (even beyond wayfinding).

Project Challenge
Students, visitors, and faculty/staff are struggling with navigating Syracuse Colleges’ campus, especially combined with finding public transportation from off-campus locations. The problem has become significant enough that people are missing class/events or consistently arriving late.

① Research & Journey Mapping
We began by conducting product insight research across all existing Syracuse University apps to evaluate functionality, gaps, and user experience. From there, we identified opportunities to consolidate features into a unified app and developed detailed journey maps for two key student use cases to guide design decisions.
Current Landscape Research:
Information Architecture:
② Scenarios
Scenario 1: Navigating off + on campus, indoor + outdoor campus buildings through transportation app integrations and VR capabilities
Scenario 2: “Smart” Class Scheduling using calendar synching, AI & in-app advisor guidance
③ High Fidelity Prototype
The high-fidelity prototype is showcased through a video walkthrough, highlighting the streamlined student journeys and intuitive design of the unified Syracuse University Wayfinding app.
